Today is January 1, and one of my goals this year is to increase my flexibility and strength.  I have this list of challenging yoga poses I’ve been wanting to master for a long time, and I keep getting overwhelmed by which one to try to do first, or how to practice all of them at the same time. So, I decided to dedicate one month to each.  There’s more than 12 that I want to master, but I’ll start with that! I’m not sure if one month will be enough time for each but I’ll adjust if I have to. 


January will be the front splits! Since I’ve been a kid I’ve wanted to be able to do the splits.  I tried on and off but never kept at it. I had kind of given up on it because I felt like I was never going to be able to. A few months ago, I decided that it doesn’t matter how long it takes me, I will eventually get there. So I started to consistently add stretches that help with the splits into my leg-day workouts. And to my surprise, at 30 years old, I am pretty much able to do the splits! Only on one side though, and only after a warmup. So this month my goal is to be able to do it on the other side and to master both!


In my opinion, there are two keys to success when it comes to fitness:


-Set very small attainable goals. Preferably one goal at a time.

-Be consistent. Work for it until you reach your goal. You will never reach it if you keep stopping whenever it doesn't seem like it will happen. The truth is that it won’t just happen, you have to put in the work, consistently!
